REFLECTION

Experience
For me, this semester is quite easier than previous ones because it’s up to us on what we want to do, what we wanted to design and illustrate as long as it’s in a form of publications. The difficult part for me was the exercises since I’m not good with crafting or paper cutting and I tend to do wrong calculations on measuring which made most of them are unbalanced and crooked. Creating the visual was hard too and it takes a lot of data in my laptop when editing it. I tried my best to push myself and not being safe about my design in this semester although it was hard because at first I’m not even so sure of what I’m doing.

Observation
In designing publications, it’s not as easy as to read it. A well-designed book put a lot of thoughts in grids, paragraphs and user-experiences. I observed that different kinds of feel, concept and content of the book have different designs in the paragraphs. About online books, this is the first time I realised that you can have navigations and buttons by creating it in InDesign. I observed that interactivity on book is something that people should consider while designing.

Findings
I found it satisfying when the book is done and nothing needs to be refined. And when the book is printed, it can changed your mind because you’ve been doing the work digitally and don’t know how  it looks like when it’s printed. I found that I tend to do work last minute. I found that even though I know what I'm going to do and have a good idea about it, it's useless if I do it on last minute. Although I still think that I need to do better and I feel that I should’ve managed my time better, I’m very glad I learned this module as it really opened my eyes on publishing design.
